Midnight Moon

HOA-1631, SMR# 3242, and AIHR "O"eligible.
1993 Grulla gelding with amber colored eyes and primitive markings.
Stands a solid 15hh tall.

Christi is willing to haul "Midnight" to the HOA meeting if anyone is interested in seeing him/trying him out. Please let her know via her contact information below

Midnight is an excellent trail horse and is very tough. He will go all day.
He needs a confident intermediate rider.
He is not a child's horse but I have given my niece and nephew pony rides with him.
If I have to fault this horse on anything, it is that he is herd bound and that makes him alert when by himself.
He needs a buddy to go with him and then he is good to go and is quiet on the trail.
He just needs someone to follow.

Midnight has been ridden in the Black Hills of South Dakota, and in Wyoming at the Spanish Mustang Registry's 50th Anniversary celebration.
He has been used as a pack horse on an elk hunting trip in Colorado, and has participated in Expos.
He has been ridden here in North Carolina at Morrow Mtn several times but for the last couple months he has taken it easy.
This tough boy needs a job to do! When he is ridden consistently he is an awesome horse

Easy keeper. He is currently barefoot and I have been having him trimmed by a barefoot specialist who has nicknamed him "Prince Hard Hooves."
He says he has hooves like concrete.
He is UTD on all of his shots and has just had a negative coggins.
He stands quietly for the vet and he will stand pretty good for the trimmer---he can be very stubborn about picking his feet up but he will do it if you are patient with him.
I usually tie a buddy close by and that always used to be his crutch.
This past Tuesday, he didn't have a buddy and that was his best time yet.
He will load and unload good in a trailer as well.

Midnight is good with other horses. He is not a vicious or mean horse in the pasture---he gets along very well with the others.
We have seen our two youngsters stand next to him in the field with their heads against his side while he took the brunt of a storm for them.
He will eat out of the same hay piles with all my other horses and I have seen my 2 yr old filly take hay out of his mouth and eat it.
He is the boss in my corral but he was the best one suited to the job at the time since I have two youngsters and one old lame mare.
He is not greedy with his feed but he just wants what is his.
When I feed him, he is only about 6 or 8 feet from my old mare. He cleans out his pan and walks off to find his hay.
He is easy to catch---all I have to do is say his name---he knows his full name very well "Midnight Moon" and will come to me.
He will also lower his head and put it right in his halter.
I have always thought that was very cute.
He is an affectionate horse and has been given a lot of attention at our home----I just hate to sell him but I am not as confident a rider as he needs and with my young horse Ricochet coming along next year I will be so busy that I will not have time to ride Midnight.
