The Training of a Horse (Man)

A picture story by Tom Norush

Racer, AKA: Nitro (SMR 2763 HOA 1129) by Popovi Da by Pucsinwah, is a very special horse for a really tough little boy, Aaron, Tom Norush's 5 year old grandson. Nitro after having a few not so loving homes and a rough life came to the Norush family. Still skittish from his previous involvement with humans Nitro wasn't so sure about anyone, that is except Tom's grandson Aaron. Who not only laid claim to him but was the only person Nitro would have catch him!

According to the prior owner this wonderful little horse would as he call it, 'shake and blow up'. But just by the pictures you can see that he and Aaron get along quite well. Accidents do tend to happen however, and on the 4th of July while Aaron and Nitro were making their way through camp something caused Nitro to spook a few steps, loosing Aaron. The ground came up all to quickly and Aaron came out with a swollen head and no other injuries. The very next day while having breakfast with his Grandpa, he informed them he couldn't ride today because his eye was swollen shut. Yet in true cowboy fashion Aaron made his way outside climbed up on the feed bin while Nitro was eating and explained to Nitro that it wasn't his fault he fell off and that he wasn't mad at him at all. Not long after, on the 6th Aaron was back up and riding again, with Tom leading him. On the 7th he was back riding by himself! Good going Nitro and Aaron!
